GasBuddy

GasBuddy is a mobile app that helps users find the cheapest and nearest gas prices. The
app relies on users to verify gas prices, collecting data through their interaction. To encourage participation, 
Gas Buddy offers rewards points, which users can redeem for discounts on gas 
and products, helping the community save money.

For this project, I redesigned their cluttered and outdated mobile app by enhancing user flow and refreshing its branding—updating typography, buttons, colors, layout, icons, and UI components. This was achieved through research, wireframe iterations, user task flows, and prototype testing.

My redesign aimed to create energy and playfulness into the app, enhancing its approachability and user engagement. By embracing the 'GasBuddy' name, the design fosters a friendly, intuitive experience, ensuring that each interaction is both enjoyable and seamless.

Designed a neutral map background for easy navigation with
minimal visual strain

Used a color-coded system to quickly highlight the best gas deals
based on proximity:

  • Green: Best deals

  • Yellow: Moderate deals

  • Red: Less favorable prices

Added a horizontal scroll feature to browse gas stations while
keeping the map in view

When selecting a gas station, essential navigation details are displayed for a seamless user experience

Placed confirmation and adjustment buttons within the user flow
to encourage engagement and maintain app reliability

Moved the "Sort By" filter to the front screen based on user feedback, streamlining decision-making and improving accessibility

Redesigned the filter screen with a drop-down selection for easy access to all options, allowing users to quickly scan and select filters without extra scrolling
